Former/Other Characters in the RP: Eridan Ampora
Character InformationName: Mabel Pines
Canon Origin/Series: Gravity Falls
School Year: 2nd
Gender: Female
Age: 12
Out of school living location: Born in Killarney, Ireland, but taking residence currently in Clitheroe, Ribble Valley, Lancashire with her
Grunkle Great Uncle and twin brother.
Blood status: Muggleborn
Personality: "When life gives you lemons, draw faces on those lemons and wrap them in a blanket. Ta-daaa! Now you have lemon babies."Just taking this particular quote from Mabel tells a lot about her personality. She's easily the type to think of a situation with a "glass half-full" type of mindset. To simply put it, she's a an optimistic sort of 12 year old girl with a ton of girl and a touch of an adventurous spirit that (seriously, she's an adventurous type who also loves CUTE GIRLY THINGS WOWOW.) pretty dang passionate in what she wants and believes in.
Gosh does she love romance. She's the textbook pre-teen when it comes to romance, specifically stating to her brother that her goal for the summer is to "Have an epic summer romance!" She's flirty towards boys that she finds cute, and even gets a boyfriend in the span of a
half an hour (but that... ended quickly when he turned out to be a bunch of gnomes that also tried to kidnap her! 8'D) that her brother was off doing things. Along with that, she also goes out of her way to help Grunkle Stan try to get together with Lazy Susan all for the sake of
looove.
Mabel's creativity lies within the arts and crafts, she's incredibly talented on so many levels. We've seen her knitting her own sweaters she wears, has an amazing talent in sculpting, and has such a talent when it comes to just art in general. Another skill that she possesses is her animal calling, which is obviously tied in with her overall love of animals.
Lord does she love animals. Though, her approach in problem solving is, well, the opposite of what her brother's way is. Dipper takes a more logical approach while Mabel takes the outside of the box approach and also Dipper is the one to be able to come up with a plan quicker than Mabel can. While she isn't the best suited for the quicker plans, her unique thought process has ultimately helped solve puzzles and also... landed her in a few unsuitable situations that she could have avoided if she thought a bit more and listened to her brother.
As far as her relationship to Dipper goes, they're pretty much inseparable and their overall qualities help each other in the get-go. As stated, Dipper is the smarter and more logical of the two, while Mabel is the more bubbly optimist. They're not the perfect siblings, they fight and argue quite a bit about different things like leadership and other silly things like that and they have a bit of a rivalry with each other (even if it's mainly in good spirits to help push each other a bit further), but they've got each other's backs and they wouldn't dare let the other be harmed in any way if they can help it, and would even help him to impress a certain girl in any way she can
even if it costs her something that she loves.
Even if she seems to be the silly one of the twins, this does not mean that she's completely silly and bubbly all the time. At the beginning of Little Dipper we see that Mabel is not only the older of the two twins, but also the taller one by a millimeter (which is a big deal!!) and gloated about it. Later, we find out that she only did this because her brother usually trumps her at anything they do (be it chess, checkers... things of that sort) and she was just jealous of this fact. Another example is her rivalry with Pacifica Northwest, the most popular girl in Gravity Falls (and basically the trope of the preppy popular girl), even if she's at first nice to Pacifica, she has shown that she absolutely hates her because of how Pacifica treats herself, her friends, and her family (Mainly her family, lordy lordy).
Despite the fact that she has that bubbly outlook and everything, if something befalls in a way she doesn't desire, it has the potential to really hurt her. Take the episode The Time Traveler's Pig, when Mabel helps her brother change the timeline in which he impresses Wendy it ultimately costs the poor girl her chance to win her pet pig Waddles, who would end up going to Pacifica instead. This really does crush her, to the point to where the timeline would continue Dipper believes that she would get over the loss of Waddles in a few days, but weeks later she was still depressed and unmoved. Of course, the timeline does actually get fixed and she does win Waddles in the end, and there wasn't a sad Mabel!
Overall, Mabel is still a pre-teen lost in the world of romance and kickass nature. She's loyal to her family and friends, and creative to boot, but she's still got a lot to learn for herself and all, considering that she's only twelve.
Canon Background: HereBackground (AU!Canon; HP): Paranormal Mabel and Dipper Pines were born and raised in Killarney, Ireland, with Mabel being the older twin by five minutes. The two of them were pretty dang normal children growing up, Mabel the more curious and genuinely adventurous and outgoing type than her brother, but there really wasn't much going on for the two of them, really. They spent their days in a state of norm, not knowing of what they really were and growing up as normal kids and such.
... Until one faithful day, that is! The twins' lives took an unexpected turn when their parents decided to give them a change in scenery. Mr. and Mrs. Pines shipped their children to live with their Great Uncle Stan in Clitheroe, Lancashire. Mabel, being the girl she was, took to the change and her Grunkle a lot better than Dipper did. She thought her Grunkle was, well, an interesting fellow. Stan ran a gift shop for the town full of gimmicky items near the Clitheroe Castle and attracted a number of tourists to the shop, but nothing was really all that different from what the two were used to when it came to their lives. There were a few interesting things that really happened to Mabel, but most of it wasn't to be explained until the two turned 11. When the two had received their letters to Hogwarts, things would really start to be changing for the two of them. The weird occurrences that happened with Mabel would be explained, and Stan would end up telling them the secret he had kept from them since they came to live with him: He was a half-blood wizard. Wow that's exciting wowow.
The first big change they would have would be at Diagon Alley. Despite the fact Stan was a huge penny pincher, he decides to take the two to Diagon Alley to purchase some of their supplies, mainly their wands. After the two had successfully done so and were heading back out of the Alley to the muggle side, Dipper ended up becoming lost in the crowd, mainly because Mabel dragged her Grunkle to get herself a pet for Hogwarts. It took her a
lot of pleading, but she ultimately ended up coaxing him into the idea. So, she chose the best pet she could, a mainly white manx with a few light brown patches on his back and one over his eye.
She named him Waddles, obviously he was a real fluffy ball, but he had an easy disposition, which was great for everyone. After that little bit, Dipper found his way back to the gang, with some weird book. Mabel didn't take too much interest in it, thinking that it was just some nerd thing that he found, and they all had departed. Wowowow.
Now when the two would arrive at Hogwarts for the first time and were officially sorted into their houses, Mabel would, again, take to the change a
lot better than her brother. As the natural optimist she was, she was the one to talk to almost everyone if she could and secretly chased some of the older boys around, because wow boys wow. She would even try to coax her brother into talking to people as she did, but not much luck really came from it. The two had a bit of an adventure in their own way, mainly Dipper's little doppleganger stint, but all the same Mabel was still so excited to this new life they had, and dang was she excited for the next year.
ApptivityHow would your character fit in to each House? Gryffindor: As far as a Gryffindor goes, Mabel is pretty much the textbook example of a Gryffindor. She's been known to get herself into a ton of sticky situations because of her fearless curiosity and bit of recklessness, such as not listening to her brothers warnings to her mysterious boyfriend and almost got enslaved to be the queen of the gnomes that resided in Gravity Fall's forest. Another example would be when herself, Dipper and the resident teenagers of Gravity Falls broke into a closed down convenience store, she saw a whole supply of Smile Dip (a candy product similar to Fun Dip, but a product that was banned and clearly marked to not consume) and prompted to consume about half of the stock and thu faced the repercussions of it.
Hallucinations followed there-after. Along with that is whenever her brother's life was on the line after being attacked and almost murdered by Gideon Gleeful, she ends up saving him by not letting the poor boy fall to his death. This sort of curiosity that she possesses also lends a hand to her brother in helping to solve conundrums, even if she isn't fully aware at times that her skills were even of use until Dipper points it out.
Hufflepuff:Hufflepuff is a bit harder to pin to Mabel, but there is the main trait that she shows is her loyalty. She shows it especially whenever her brother is getting picked on or is in trouble, and wouldn't dare hesitate to jump to help him. Along with that, she also asserts her loyalty towards her other family members and her group of friends. Another 'puff trait that she has is her tolerance, and bit of patience, especially seen in The Hand That Rocks the Mabel. She befriended Gideon, and reluctantly did go out on a date with him to not hurt his feelings, but oh god she just wanted to friendzone him so
fast. (who can blame her tho) and also saves his life as well as her brother's by the end of the spiel instead of letting Gideon die
and not just because this is a kids show and that wouldn't be allowed. l-lol.
Ravenclaw: Now this one is a bit tough. Mabel isn't the logical thinker of the two siblings, but her 'claw traits rely more on her creativity and overall wit. She's gifted in the arts and crafts and her ability to think different from her brother's logical way has, as stated before, helped them tremendously in the mysteries they've been presented with. She's a quirky lass, who sometimes has a bit of a smart mouth, especially whenever she's confident about something. But of course, Mabel isn't the shining example of intelligence at times, there are times when she questions a lot of things that someone says simply because, well, she has no idea what it means. It doesn't mean that she's stupid or something for not knowing it, it's mainly because she's young and it's just. not something that she knows.
8U;Slytherin: Fffghhhhfh. While Mabel may speak and assert herself as the leader of the group from time to time due to her at times brash nature, she generally passes the leadership to skills to her brother whenever she isn't playing around with him. (They're twins, after all! She's under the impression that they should both be the leader, loooool.) Despite this, she still shows plenty of traits that would suit her in Slytherin. Her resourcefulness is first-off what comes to mind, even if it isn't taken to a logical level, such as in trying to help her brother solve who was the true founder of Gravity Falls by folding a map into a hat through her somewhat silly ways and incidentally solving part of the puzzle. She's incredibly ambitious as well, taking in to the fact that she tells her brother her goal to have an epic summer romance while they're staying with their Great Uncle at Gravity Falls, and ... also hits on a lot of boys in that episode until she ends up getting to one. This ambition is also present in a lot of things she does, such as trying to help Stan overcome his fear of heights and to try to make him the perfect gentleman to help hook him up with Lazy Susan, and lord does she try until she cannot try any longer.
